Privacy Policy
What we collect, why we collect it, how long we keep it, who it is shared with, and what you can ask us to do with it.
Last updated: August 2026
At QuizKite, accessible from quizkite.com, one of our main priorities is the privacy of our visitors. This Privacy Policy document contains the types of information that is collected and recorded by QuizKite and how we use it.
If you have additional questions or require more information about our Privacy Policy, do not hesitate to contact us.
This policy applies only to our online activities and is valid for visitors to our website with regard to the information that they share and/or that we collect on quizkite.com. This policy is not applicable to any information collected offline or via channels other than this website.
Consent
By using our website, you hereby consent to our Privacy Policy and agree to its terms. If you do not agree with this policy, please discontinue use of the site.
The short version
- You can read every article and play every quiz without an account and without giving us your name or email address.
- Most of your progress — score history, streaks, coins, preferences — is stored in your own browser, not on our servers.
- We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with anyone except the service providers described below.
- Advertising on this site is served by Google, which sets its own cookies and is governed by its own policies.
- You can erase everything we have stored on your device at any time from your browser settings.
Information we collect
The personal information that you are asked to provide, and the reasons why you are asked to provide it, are made clear to you at the point we ask. QuizKite is designed to work without accounts, and we deliberately collect as little as possible.
Information stored in your browser, not by us
When you play as a guest, your progress is written to your own device using your browser's local storage. It never reaches our servers, we cannot read it, and clearing your browser data deletes it permanently. This covers a display name and avatar if you created a guest profile, experience points, coins, streaks, unlocked cosmetic items, which quizzes you have played and your best score on each, your light or dark theme preference, whether quiz sound is on or off, and your cookie choice.
Because this sits on your device, it does not transfer between devices or browsers, and we cannot recover it if you clear it.
Quiz attempts
When a quiz is completed, we record the quiz played, the score, the number of questions and the time taken. Alongside this we store a randomly generated session identifier and a hashed form of the IP address — hashed meaning it is converted to an irreversible string, so no readable IP address is held against an attempt. Where a player has an account, the attempt is linked to it so their history can be shown back to them; where they do not, it is linked to no person.
Account information, if you register
An account is entirely optional. If you create one, we store your display name, your email address and a cryptographically hashed version of your password. We never store a password in readable form and cannot retrieve one for you — a forgotten password can be reset but never recovered. We also record when the account was created and when it last signed in.
Messages you send us
If you contact us directly through our contact form, we may receive additional information about you such as your name, email address, the subject and contents of the message, and the IP address it was sent from, which helps us deal with spam and abuse.
How we use your information
We use the information we collect in various ways, including to:
- provide, operate and maintain our website;
- improve, personalise and expand our website;
- understand and analyse how you use our website, in aggregate;
- develop new quizzes, articles, features and functionality;
- count how often a quiz is played and identify content that may need reviewing;
- communicate with you, directly, to respond to a message you sent us;
- find and prevent abuse, automated manipulation of scores, and security incidents.
What we do not do: we do not sell or rent personal information; we do not build advertising profiles of individual readers ourselves; we do not run email marketing or add you to any mailing list; we do not use social network tracking pixels; and we do not ask for your date of birth, address, phone number or payment details, since the site is free and takes no payments.
Log files
QuizKite follows a standard procedure of using log files. These files log visitors when they visit websites, and all hosting companies do this as a part of hosting services' analytics. The information collected by log files may include internet protocol addresses, browser type, internet service provider, date and time stamp, referring and exit pages, and possibly the number of clicks. These are not linked to any information that is personally identifiable. The purpose of the information is for analysing trends, administering the site, tracking users' movement on the website, and gathering demographic information.
Cookies and web beacons
Like any other website, QuizKite uses cookies. These cookies are used to store information including visitors' preferences and the pages on the website that the visitor accessed or visited. The information is used to optimise the users' experience by customising our web page content based on visitors' browser type and other information.
We publish a complete, itemised inventory of every cookie and every piece of browser storage this site uses — naming each one, what it does and how long it lasts — in our Cookie Policy.
Google DoubleClick DART cookie
Google is one of the third-party vendors on our site. It also uses cookies, known as DART cookies, to serve ads to our site visitors based upon their visit to quizkite.com and other sites on the internet. However, visitors may choose to decline the use of DART cookies by visiting the Google ad and content network Privacy Policy at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
Our advertising partners
Some advertisers on our site may use cookies and web beacons. Our advertising partner is listed below. Each of our advertising partners has their own Privacy Policy for their policies on user data. For easier access, we have hyperlinked to it below.

Advertising partners privacy policies
You may consult this list to find the Privacy Policy for each of the advertising partners of QuizKite.
Third-party ad servers or ad networks use technologies like cookies, JavaScript or web beacons that are used in their respective advertisements and links that appear on QuizKite, which are sent directly to users' browsers. They automatically receive your IP address when this occurs. These technologies are used to measure the effectiveness of their advertising campaigns and/or to personalise the advertising content that you see on websites that you visit.
Note that QuizKite has no access to or control over these cookies that are used by third-party advertisers.
You can opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings, or opt out of many vendors at once at aboutads.info or, in Europe, youronlinechoices.com. Opting out stops advertising being personalised; it does not remove advertising, which is what pays for the site.
Third party privacy policies
QuizKite's Privacy Policy does not apply to other advertisers or websites. Thus, we are advising you to consult the respective Privacy Policies of these third-party ad servers for more detailed information. It may include their practices and instructions about how to opt out of certain options.
You can choose to disable cookies through your individual browser options. To know more detailed information about cookie management with specific web browsers, it can be found at the browsers' respective websites.
Data retention
- Quiz attempts: retained while they remain useful for play counts and content review. They contain no readable identifier for guests.
- Account data: retained for as long as the account exists. Delete the account and it goes.
- Contact messages: retained while an issue is open and for a reasonable period afterwards, then deleted.
- Password reset tokens: short-lived by design, and invalidated once used or expired.
- Browser storage: kept until you clear it, which is entirely under your control.
CCPA privacy rights (do not sell my personal information)
Under the CCPA, among other rights, California consumers have the right to:
- request that a business that collects a consumer's personal data disclose the categories and specific pieces of personal data that a business has collected about consumers;
- request that a business delete any personal data about the consumer that a business has collected;
- request that a business that sells a consumer's personal data not sell the consumer's personal data.
If you make a request, we have one month to respond to you. We do not sell personal information to anyone, so the third of these rights is satisfied by default. If you would like to exercise any of these rights, please contact us.
GDPR data protection rights
We would like to make sure you are fully aware of all of your data protection rights. Every user is entitled to the following:
- The right to access — you have the right to request copies of your personal data.
- The right to rectification — you have the right to request that we correct any information you believe is inaccurate, or complete information you believe is incomplete.
- The right to erasure — you have the right to request that we erase your personal data, under certain conditions.
- The right to restrict processing — you have the right to request that we restrict the processing of your personal data, under certain conditions.
- The right to object to processing — you have the right to object to our processing of your personal data, under certain conditions.
- The right to data portability — you have the right to request that we transfer the data we have collected to another organisation, or directly to you, under certain conditions.
If you make a request, we have one month to respond to you. We extend these rights to anyone who asks, regardless of where they live, because it is simpler and fairer than checking first. In practice, if you have no account we are very unlikely to hold anything that identifies you at all. We do not charge for this and will not ask you to justify the request. If you would like to exercise any of these rights, please contact us.
Our lawful bases for processing are: your consent, for non-essential cookies; our legitimate interests, for security, abuse prevention and aggregate statistics; and performance of a contract, for operating an account you asked us to create. If you believe we have handled your information badly, you are entitled to complain to your local data protection authority.
Children's information
Another part of our priority is adding protection for children while using the internet. We encourage parents and guardians to observe, participate in and/or monitor and guide their online activity.
QuizKite does not knowingly collect any Personal Identifiable Information from children under the age of 13. Because accounts are optional and nothing else on the site asks for personal details, a child can use QuizKite without providing anything about themselves. If you think that your child provided this kind of information on our website, we strongly encourage you to contact us immediately and we will do our best efforts to promptly remove such information from our records.
Security
The site is served over an encrypted connection. Passwords are stored only as cryptographic hashes, form submissions are protected against cross-site request forgery, and database queries use prepared statements. No system is perfectly secure, and we would rather say so plainly than claim otherwise — though we hold very little that would be worth taking.
International data transfers
The site is hosted on infrastructure that may be located in a different country from you, and our advertising and analytics providers operate globally. Using the site involves your request being processed wherever those servers are located.
Changes to this privacy policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and revising the date shown at the top. Where a change materially affects what we collect or who it is shared with, we will make that clear rather than editing the text quietly. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
Contact us
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy, or wish to make a request about your information, please get in touch through our contact page. We read everything that arrives.
